KOLOR
Journal on Moving Communities

KOLOR, Journal on Moving Communities, was launched in 2002. It is an international peer reviewed journal, with an academic board, publishing on issues which belong to the broader field of migration, interculturalism, ethnicity and racism. The offices are located in Brussels, which is also the residence of the two supporting organisations, i.e. the regional minorities centre FOYER, and the research institute IMMRC (Interculturalism, Migration and Minority Research Centre – KU Leuven).

KOLOR appears twice a year (May and November). Each issue consists of 96 pages, practically containing 6 articles. At times, one issue covers one single theme or two/three themes. All contributions are written in English. Abstracts in English and French, however, are provided and included in the journal.

KOLOR will prioritise contributions which mainly discuss the previously mentioned issues in metropolitan settings, while offering innovative insights and incisive analysis. Particular interest is given to ‘new migrant’ communities. The issue dealt with in the contribution or its elaboration needs to be relevant in the contemporary context and to appeal to a large group of people. The latter consists of the informed larger public such as journalists, social workers, labour unionists but also other professionals who want to follow up the issue of migration and migrants. At the same time the articles should address to scientists interested in migration and minority issues. It means that the topics and the presentation of the arguments are both very important. The same criteria apply to individual contributions. An article needs to be grounded on scientific rigour as well as on its social impact/relevance. At the same time while upholding high scientific standards, the language should be accessible and palatable to a wide range of people and not just the academic community.
